High-Speed Chase Ends in Arrest: League City Police Apprehend Suspect with Child Passenger

League City, TX (September 12, 2023)

League City Police Officers have arrested 34-year-old suspect, Nicholas Rocha. Rocha has been charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle ($150,000 Bond) and Endangering a Child ($50,000 Bond).

On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at approximately 7:24 p.m., League City Police Officers initiated a traffic stop after observing Nicholas Rocha driving a maroon Honda Accord Southbound in the 3400 block of S Gulf Fwy. Rocha had a confirmed Class A Misdemeanor theft warrant out of Harris County and a Class C warrant out of Webster. Rocha immediately began attempting to evade the officers. Rocha continued Southbound and made a U-turn to travel Northbound onto S IH 45 Fwy. The pursuit continued into Houston.

League City officers then received assistance from a Houston Police Department PIT (Precision Immobilization Technique) Maneuver Unit. At 8:14 p.m., the HPD unit conducted a successful PIT maneuver in the 5000 block of IH 610 E. Rocha complied with commands to exit the vehicle and was placed in custody at 8:17 p.m. An 11-year-old family member of Rocha was in the front passenger seat of the Honda. Rocha and the juvenile were uninjured. The juvenile was released to a family member.
